Abstract
This is an experimental research. Its objective is to: 1) develop CAI for the subject “Variable and Operation: an Introduction to Object Oriented Programming,” 2) compare the learning achievements between pre-test and post-test using CAI, 3) compare the 80% criterion set for learning achievement between pre-test and post-test using CAI, and 4) evaluate the satisfaction of learners toward CAI by using a sample population of 24 1st year undergraduate students from the Computer Science department, School of Science, UTCC. The experimental tools are as following. 1) CAI of “Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming on the topic of Variable and Operation.” 2) Pre-test and Post-test on the same topic. 3) Questionnaire about “Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming on the topic of Variable and Operation.” The research experiment is divided into three phases as follows: The first phase involves creating the CAI program and allowing the students to learn the topic “Variable and Operation” on their own. The second phase is the creating of a pre-and post-test to evaluate the learning achievement. The last phase is the distribution and collection of the questionnaire to evaluate learner’s satisfaction toward CAI. The statistics measurements used in this research are percentage, means, standard deviation and t-test. The research results show that 1) CAI has an efficiency rate on pre-tests equal to 80.3, while the efficiency rate on the post-test equaled 80.4, 2) that there is a significant difference between the pre-and post-test at the level of 0.01, 3) that there is a significant difference between learning achievement at the level of 0.05, 4) that the learners have a moderate rate of satisfaction at 3.42 in the design and content of CAI and 5) that the learners have a high satisfaction rate of 3.51 in CAI.
