Abstract
Career development is one of three areas of the Human Resource Development (HRD)field. Due to the effect of social and economic changes on HRD in this era, interest incareer development has increased significantly. This paper proposes roles for bothorganizations and individuals to address contemporary career development issues. Inan uncertain work environment, an organization should assist employees in achievingcareer development in terms of employability, psychological contracts, and intrinsicand extrinsic rewards. In addition, the current unexpected nature of careers requiresindividuals to improve their qualities and skills in order to manage their own careers.
