SCM IS (Supply Chain Management Information System)being the enterprise or inter-organizational informationsystem that manages the flow of information betweensuppliers, and end customers. The need of such systemgets justified with the trend of globalization as businessspans beyond borders and the need to manage it centrally.In spite of researchers explaining the importance of SCMIS, the capability of such system with an empirical studyis yet to be researched to prove it’s significant,particularly in the Malaysian context. Being a conceptualpaper, this paper provides a framework that spots thecapabilities that builds up the SCM IS. Also, this paperinvestigates if the identified capabilities results to betterSupply Chain Performance. It is expected that throughthis framework, such capabilities could be researched asof which capabilities of SCM IS affect supply chainperformance the most. The framework is expected to betested empirically using data from electronicmanufacturing firms in Malaysia.
