- PublicationClustering Approach for Radio Resource Management in High Density Wireless Local Area Networks(University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, 2013)
; From our fundamental study, we find that high density wireless LANs can introduce a high hidden node index, resulting in rapid reduction of the overall system performance. In this paper, we propose the clustering approach for radio resource management to alleviate the degradation of the overall system performance. The main objective of such algorithm is to reduce the hidden node index, therefore enhancing the performance of the system. We conduct two studies: experimental study by using wireless network test-bed and simulation study by using OPNET Modeler. The former is to measure the saturated throughput of the base system while the latter is to simulate the wireless network in high density scenarios. The results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional approach at the high degree of network density (greater than 9.3). Therefore, the proposed algorithm is a better alternative in such settings.11 132 - PublicationEfficient channel assignment algorithms for infrastructure WLANs under dense deployment(University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, 2009)
; ; ; It is well known that WLAN based on the IEEE 802.11 standard suffers from interference and scalability problems due to a limited number of nonoverlappingchannels. In order to mitigate the interference problem, channel assignment algorithms have been a popular research topic in recent years. It has been shown that such algorithms can greatly reduce the interference amongwireless access points. However, in this paper we show that previously proposed channel assignment algorithms may lead to an increased number of hidden nodes in dense network deployments. We also show that this can significantly decrease the performance of the network. Furthermore, we present results from experiments showing that the RTS/CTS mechanism is unable to solve the hidden node problem in infrastructure WLANs and therefore, careful consideration needs to be taken when choosing channel assignment strategies in densely deployed wireless networks. To this end, we propose two novel channel assignment algorithms. Using a simulation study, we show that the proposed algorithms can outperform traditional channel assignment in densely deployed scenarios, in terms of QoS sensitive VoIP support without compromising the aggregate throughput and are therefore a better performing alternative in such settings.3 35 - PublicationSupply Chain Management Problems: A ReviewSupply chain management (SCM) deals with flowmanagement of funding, information, and material. It hasbeen attended to in last decade or so more than ever sinceit can reduce total cost of the entire system whileincreasing customer satisfaction level. There arenumerous issues in SCM, yet, in this paper, just only four, namely, Inventory management, Facility location,Information technology, and Sourcing, are discussed. Theobjective of Inventory management is to determineappropriate policies and strategies to answer the questionof how much and when to order. Information plays asignificant role to link each activity in supply chain towork continuously and effectively so as to enhanceperformance of the system. Facility location aims atinvestigating appropriate location to set facilities in orderto reduce inventory and transportation cost for the wholesupply chain. Sourcing, the major concern of this paper, isa strategy for making decisions either making in-house oroutsource some activities. One of all activities ofsourcing is the process of selection of appropriatesuppliers. This paper aims to review the literatureregarding the four aspects in supply chain and discusses insome details the topic of sourcing.
